When the deadliest U.S. wildfire in a century devastated the Hawaiian island of Maui, Diana Taurasi and her wife Penny Taylor knew they needed to help. Maui was a special place for them, somewhere they took their family and as mothers the only thing that made sense was to help other mothers in the area.
Working with Social Impact, Diana and Penny chose to partner with Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies of Hawaii to help raise awareness and funds. To kick off this campaign the two donated $10,000 directly and asked the community to join them. Diana’s team, the Phoenix Mercury, also jumped in to support creating graphics and a video which was released during a home game versus the NY Liberty.
Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies was overwhelmed with donations serving over 200 families with much needed supplies, while social media went wild with thousands of likes and shares supporting this amazing cause.
