Keyland

about the artist
Keyland is an American band, built and sustained in Tulsa, OK by Kyle Ross. Branded as "Wild and Mild," the songs harbor somewhere between rowdy and reflective, are often sad but always hopeful, and are always a little bit country and a little bit rock n' roll. Keyland has released two studio albums, recorded with and by musicians from Tulsa, and both were published in 2023: Growin' Pains and Sundress & Shade Trees.

Ross simultaneously began writing music alongside a career in public education in 2020 and has been teaching 8th-grade English and coaching high school football and track in Bixby, OK for the last five years. Meanwhile, Keyland has grown to become a legitimate part of the rising and impressive Tulsa music scene; from the band's first live show (held in Ross's living room) to Cain's Ballroom and sold-out shows at The Mercury Lounge, Keyland has become one of Tulsa's favorite bands among listeners and musicians alike.
Keyland's latest EP was produced by Sam Westhoff and recorded in El Paso, TX at Sonic Ranch in the spring of 2024. Released through One Riot, the EP captures Ross's best work to date, a reflection of his growth and a testament to his unique musical identity. Ross remarks, "The entire Keyland project has been very personal to me and also a huge team effort at the same time. I'm so happy to be making music with and for the people I love, and I'm stoked to see how we can continue to build this thing." With this project, Ross continues to build on a vision that is both personal and communal, creating "American Music" that feels like home, no matter where he goes.
