Momentum Hockey Rebrands to Wasserman Hockey in Strategic Partnership

Global sports, music and entertainment company Wasserman has formed a strategic partnership with Momentum Hockey, which will be immediately rebranded to Wasserman Hockey, announced today by President, Global Talent Representation Jason Ranne. As part of the move, Momentum owner Olivier Fortier will become Vice President, Hockey, and co-owner Charles-Olivier Roussel will become Senior Director, Hockey.

“There is a long-held mutual respect between Wasserman Hockey and Momentum Hockey. They are a homegrown, client-first hockey agency with a tremendous presence in Quebec,” said Ranne. “Our goal is
to continue their success trajectory together, and to integrate them and their clients into our broader representation platform in a manner that benefits everyone.”

Established in 2011, Momentum Hockey represents elite players across Canada and the United States. Its roster features top talent including Alexis Lafrenière, Mathieu Joseph, Pierre-Olivier Joseph, Anthony Mantha, Jakob Pelletier and Joshua Roy, who will all join Wasserman Hockey. Momentum is based out of Montreal and all staff will become part of Wasserman, including Fortier, Roussel, Dan Shakibaian, Frederick Roy, Jonathan Bernier and Alexandre Imbeault.

“We are excited to announce our new partnership with Wasserman, a company that shares our core values and commitment to excellence,” said Fortier. “This milestone aligns perfectly with our goal of delivering exceptional, personalized service to our clients and their families. Our collaboration with Wasserman Hockey, centered on exclusivity and quality, marks a significant advance for the athletes we represent and strengthens our leadership in talent representation.”

The partnership with Momentum is the most recent step in the global growth of Wasserman Hockey, which originally launched in 2018 with a significant equity investment in (and eventual acquisition of)
Orr Hockey Group. Later that year, the group augmented its practice by hiring agent Judd Moldaver, and in 2020, it expanded across North America and into Europe with the acquisition of global hockey agency ACME World Sports. In 2021, the team added geographic strength in Western Canada through the acquisition of Vancouver-based PointsWest Hockey and the hiring of its founder, Rich Evans.

With clients including Connor McDavid, Auston Matthews, Kyle Connor, Alex DeBrincat, Nick Suzuki and Roman Josi, Wasserman Hockey continues to represent the game’s best and the game’s future. Since
2014, the group has had 53 first and second round NHL Draft picks, including 11 top 10 picks and two number one picks in Matthews and McDavid. Beyond hockey, Wasserman’s industry-leading sports talent representation practice represents some of the biggest names in sports, including Nolan Arenado, Paige Bueckers, Amari Cooper, Maxx Crosby, Billy Donovan, Jagger Eaton, Tony Finau, Shai GilgeousAlexander, Tyler Glasnow, Brittney Griner, Nelly Korda, Katie Ledecky, Simone Manuel, Weston McKennie, Alex Morgan, Nneka Ogwumike, Domantas Sabonis, Geno Smith, Sophia Smith, Giancarlo
Stanton, Diana Taurasi, Klay Thompson, Mike Tirico, Jamie Vardy, Lilia Vu and Tracy Wolfson.

The rebrand of Momentum Hockey continues Wasserman’s ambitious growth strategy over the last 20+ years, through which the company has become a leading representation, marketing and sales business that provides an end-to-end suite of services to talent, brands, properties and rights holders globally.
