Andriy Shevchenko is a retired Ukrainian professional footballer born on September 29, 1976, in Dvirkivschyna, Ukraine. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest Ukrainian footballers of all time. Shevchenko began his professional career with Dynamo Kyiv in 1994, where he quickly established himself as a prolific goal scorer.

His performances attracted the attention of top European clubs, and in 1999, he joined AC Milan in Serie A. At Milan, Shevchenko enjoyed tremendous success, winning numerous domestic and international titles, including the Serie A title, the UEFA Champions League, and the Ballon d’Or in 2004, awarded to the best player in Europe. He became the all-time leading scorer for AC Milan during his time at the club.

In 2006, Shevchenko transferred to Chelsea FC in the English Premier League, but his time there was less successful due to injuries and inconsistent form. Shevchenko also represented the Ukrainian national team, earning over 100 caps and scoring a record number of goals for his country. He participated in multiple UEFA European Championships and FIFA World Cups.

After retiring from professional football in 2012, Shevchenko pursued a career in coaching, eventually becoming the head coach of the Ukrainian national team in 2016.
