Lindsey Horan is a professional soccer player who has established herself as a dominant force on the international stage, representing both Olympique Lyonnais and the U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT). Originally from Colorado, Horan made the bold decision at 18 to forgo college soccer in order to pursue a professional career, and she was the first player in history to ever do so. Horan signed with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), where she quickly made an impact by scoring 20 goals in her first 25 appearances. This pivotal move set the stage for a career defined by relentless excellence and leadership.
Horan’s career soared upon her return to the U.S. with Portland Thorns FC, where she played a critical role in securing the team’s championship title by scoring the game-winning goal in 2017, earning her the Championship MVP award. During her time with the Thorns, she also received NWSL MVP and NWSL Best XI honors in 2018, along with two NWSL Shields (2016, 2021).
On the international stage, Horan’s influence has grown stronger each year. She has served as captain for both Lyon and the USWNT, leading with grace and tenacity. Horan began her journey with the USWNT at the youth level, becoming the leading scorer for the U.S. U-17 team during the 2010 CONCACAF Women’s Championship. Over the years, she has achieved numerous milestones, including her first World Cup goal in 2019 and earning her 100th cap during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, where the team clinched a bronze medal.
In 2024, she captained the U.S. to victory at the Paris Olympics, earning a gold medal and solidifying her status as a key figure in women’s soccer. With Olympique Lyonnais, she has also added multiple titles to her name, including the Division 1 Féminine League and the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Horan has received numerous accolades, including U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year in 2021 and recognition for her leadership and community involvement. Celebrated for advancing the women’s game, she serves as a role model inspiring athletes worldwide with her bold choices and commitment to excellence.
