Paul Tenorio is a senior writer for The Athletic who covers soccer nationally, including Major League Soccer and the U.S. Men’s National Team. Paul is known for breaking major stories in the sport.

Based in Chicago, Illinois, Tenorio has spent more than five years with The Athletic, where he helped launch soccer coverage and co-hosts the Allocation Disorder podcast. Prior to joining The Athletic in 2018, he covered MLS nationally for British soccer publication FourFourTwo and worked as a sideline reporter and analyst on Chicago Fire broadcasts from 2016-2018.

Tenorio also spent three and a half years at the Orlando Sentinel covering Orlando City from 2015-2016 and UCF football and basketball from 2012-2014. At the Sentinel, he chronicled UCF’s run to the Fiesta Bowl and Blake Bortles’ rise up NFL draft charts. He also launched soccer coverage at the Sentinel when Orlando City was selected as an MLS expansion team for the 2015 season.

Before joining the Sentinel, Tenorio spent five years at The Washington Post covering high school sports, the Washington Football Team and soccer.

A proud Costa Rican-American, Tenorio is a native of Alexandria, Virginia, and graduated from Northwestern University in 2007.
