NBA Champion and fan-favorite Brian Scalabrine, nicknamed the “White Mamba,” has built a lasting legacy in basketball on and off the court. A key part of the Boston Celtics’ 2008 NBA Championship team, Scalabrine spent 11 seasons in the league with the New Jersey Nets, Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls, earning a reputation as the kind of player that brought teams together.
Following his retirement from the NBA, Scalabrine joined the Golden State Warriors coaching staff. He then transitioned to broadcasting, serving as an analyst for the Boston Celtics on NBC and a co-host of The Starting Lineup on SiriusXM NBA Radio.
Scalabrine played collegiate basketball at USC, where he was a standout for the Trojans and earned All-Pac-10 honors. His leadership and versatility led the Trojans to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances before being selected by the Nets in the second round of the 2001 NBA Draft. During his four seasons with the Nets, he was part of two Eastern Conference championship teams, gaining valuable playoff experience early in his career.
From 2005 to 2010, he played for the Boston Celtics, where he brought depth, consistency and a strong understanding of the game, contributing to their 2008 championship. Over five seasons in Boston, he appeared in 264 regular-season games. He closed out his playing career with the Chicago Bulls, where his leadership continued to be valued on and off the floor.
In addition to his media and basketball career, Scalabrine found his way back to coaching and founded Team White Mamba, a youth basketball camp that emphasizes fundamentals and teamwork. Known for embracing his role in NBA culture and connecting authentically with fans, Scalabrine remains one of the most beloved personalities in the game. Today, he lives right outside of Boston, Massachusetts, with his wife and three children.
