In 2022 Akemi released her second EP titled 'You're My Favourite Day' with NQ Records. Her exciting collaboration with Swindle saw her song 'See You Soon' find its way onto HBO's show 'Unprisoned.' The second single 'I Want It' ft July 7, produced by grammy award winning Sammy Soso, became BBC Introducing Track of the Week.
2023 was a great year for Akemi. She played BBC Big Weekend Festival in Dundee on the BBC Introducing stage and Cross The Tracks Festival in London. In October Akemi independently released her single 'give it to me' which was placed in Pretty Little Thing x Lori Harvey collection's social media campaign. When Chanel staged their Métiers d'art show in Manchester, Akemi attended as a rising star in the northern music scene. Akemi starred in Adidas x Manchester United x Stone Roses collaboration video as part of her ongoing relationship with MUFC.
'in the dark' is Akemi Fox's third EP, the name reflects the artwork that was taken at night time. The project contains 7 tracks that uncover feelings of uncertainty that Akemi had been feeling and her journey to self-acceptance. It also, touches on themes like intimacy, from her honesty by uncovering insecurities in herself like in the song 'be yourself' to embracing her sexuality and newfound confidence in songs like 'give it to me' and 'hold my face.' Akemi continues to play around with her R&B sound featuring different sonics and vibes. 'in the dark' comes out on the 13th of September.
