Flowdan

With a career that's spanned the best part of two decades, Flowdan is one of the most easily recognisable characters in British urban music.

A certified cult figure, the East London MC has had a career which has run the entire timeline of grime. Flowdan came to prominence with garage collective Pay As You Go before becoming one of the founding members of grime pioneers Roll Deep and has gone on to become one of the most respected, distinctive and versatile voices in electronic music.

Critical acclaim soon beckoned. Late 2007 saw the MC feature on the iconic 'Skeng' — a brilliant slice of digi-dancehall from The Bug featuring Killa P, transformed into a sub-destroying dubstep banger by urban dance don Kode9, the Glaswegian patriarch of lauded British label Hyperdub.

The Original Dan has gone on to feature plenty with The Bug, DVA and others plus rejuvenating his solo career with stellar releases like 'Say Nothin' (with Jubei & Metalheadz) and Badman City (with grime producer Kahn, on Black Box), carving a niche for himself when it comes to ragga-infused dubstep and dark war-ready grime where rolling basslines provide perfect soundtracks for his distinctive flow.

He has continued to gig across the world at festivals and club nights and build a reputation as a phenomenal live performer with releases on Metalheadz, Hyperdub and two albums on Tru Thoughts, Flowdan has shown himself to be an artist that stands in his own light. With a significant amount of experience under his belt, he is now focused on his own Spentshell brand through which he manages and releases music from today's new generation of royalty in grime, dancehall and beyond.

In early 2023, after months of constantly escalating, feverish hype, Flowdan released the hotly anticipated, 'Rumble' with production royalty Skrillex & Fred again…, a track which gripped the world with its earth-shattering energy and equally powerful vocals which elevated Flowdan to a whole new level, soaring the charts worldwide as well as being used by the likes of the England football team and two of Europe's top footballers, Marcus Rashford & Kylian Mbappe as well as many other stars and influencers across the globe.

Alongside his prolific work with a microphone, Flowdan has also become renowned as an accomplished producer, known for his highly rhythmic & certifiably heavy tracks which stylistically dwell in the realms of Grime & Dancehall and which provide the perfect canvas for not just his own vocals but also the likes of PK, GHSTLY XXVII, Docious, ITookie and many more. He has also crafted multiple, highly acclaimed and popular sample packs with leading music creation platform, Splice.

Talking about his production he says, "For me, the main thing is trying to sound different and interesting at the same time, I think it's a waste of time if it's interesting but sounds like something else."
