"I'm very visual," he states. "Rather than simply listen, I'll really try to picture the soundscapes and production. I don't think about genres too much. I'm very open to sounds though, and I just let it flow. I'm writing about subjects that are specific to me and my feelings. So I'm giving you who I am."
Growing up in India, he consumed as much music as possible from a young age. Beyond immersing himself in "a lot of Bollywood," he picked up his first guitar at 16-years-old. During his time at New York University, he fell in love with the catalog of Elliott Smith. "He got me interested in songwriting and really inspired me," he reminisces.

Gentle murmurs of acoustic guitar underline his delicate delivery on the verses. It culminates on a wistful refrain, "Just like a movie, the end is where we start."
"It's a very mysterious song," he notes. "You'll see someone, and you imagine what your life could be with this person in the flash of a second. To me, the whole thing plays out like a movie. It's actually happened to me, so I'm representing this experience in a song."
Ultimately, Prateek crafts the kind of music you not only hear, but you see as it vividly unfolds right in front of you.
"As a musician and songwriter, I just want to write songs that really impact people in some way and stay with them," he says. "That's what music did for me when I was young, and it still does. It can be really life-changing and important. You can listen to a song and literally have it change the trajectory of what you do. I want to make songs that move you."
