Superdrag is an Alternative Rock band from Knoxville, Tennessee. They are probably best known for "Sucked Out," the hit song from their major-label debut album Regretfully Yours released in 1996 on Elektra Records. The accompanying music video garnered heavy rotation in MTV's Buzz Bin for a then-record 10 weeks, and the song peaked at #17 on Billboard's Modern Rock chart. Formed in 1993, the band released 4 full-length albums and an array of EPs & singles over the course of the next decade. They also made 2 appearances on Late Night with Conan O'Brien and filmed a live set for MTV's 120 Minutes. Superdrag toured the United States heavily, both as headliners and supporting acts like Green Day, Weezer and Guided By Voices. Original bassist Tom Pappas was replaced by Sam Powers of Who Hit John in 1999, and Mic Harrison from The V-Roys stepped in for original guitarist Brandon Fisher in 2001. International tours included a trip to Japan with NOFX and several visits to the UK. The band called an indefinite hiatus in 2003. Singer/songwriter/guitarist John Davis issued 2 solo LPs and drummer Don Coffey Jr operated a recording studio, Independent Recorders, producing notable albums by Mic Harrison, The Put-Outs (ex-Gone Dogs) and many others. Reunion tours in 2007-2008 featuring Superdrag's original line-up led to the release of their fifth album, Industry Giants, in 2009. Davis and Fisher formed a new band in 2012 called The Lees Of Memory, Coffey joined Mic Harrison & The High Score and Pappas made several albums with the Tom Pappas Collection. The 4 original members of Superdrag reconvened in 2021 for a series of interviews marking the 40th Anniversary of radio station WUTK, and they've been working on new music ever since.
