Vundabar

about the artist
Formed by Brandon Hagen (guitar, vocals) and Drew McDonald (drums), and later joined by Zack Abramo (bass), Vundabar have always been imbued with a fiercely independent spirit, their sound forged in mythical underground Brooklyn venues such as Silent Barn and Shea Stadium. Musically, they exist almost as a fever dream of many genres, melding arty post-punk, tangled math-rock, sun-dappled surf-guitar, shimmering jangle-pop and grunge scuzz into sharp, compact songs that have netted them a wide fan base and a reputation for a killer live show.

Originating in Boston's DIY circles in 2012, the band self-released five albums at a feverish pace, starting with 2013's Antics, yielding one of the sharpest catalogues of the past decade. This included their 2015 track 'Alien Blues' which skyrocketed to popularity on TikTok in 2021, earning Vundabar a platinum record along the way.
In 2024, after years of self-releasing and making a name for themselves as one of the hardest-working bands in DIY, they announced they would be joining Loma Vista
Recordings, alongside the ranks of artists such as Soccer Mommy, Denzel Curry, Sleater-Kinney, Manchester Orchestra, Killer Mike and Iggy Pop. Surgery and Pleasure, their sixth album, will be released on the label in March 2025.
