Chase Utley

A native of the greater Los Angeles area, Chase Utley was born in Pasadena, California. Taking up baseball from a young age, Chase found his calling and pursued it with passion. Drafted out of UCLA 15th overall in 2000 by the Philadelphia Phillies, Chase’s first major league hit was a grand slam home run on April 24th, 2003. That set the stage for what will be remembered as one of the greatest and most prosperous careers in the history of baseball. Chase established himself as one of the most popular athletes in Philadelphia sports history with his leadership, production, and hard-nosed style of play during the Phillies’ run of first-place finishes from 2007 through 2011. He made six All-Star teams and won four Silver Slugger Awards. After winning a World Series with the Phillies in 2008, he was chosen as the second baseman on the Sports Illustrated All-Decade Team for the 2000’s. In August of 2015, Chase would see his career come full circle as the Phillies traded him back to his hometown of LA. In 2019, he finally hung up his sneakers and ended his 16-year MLB stint in Dodger blue. Shortly thereafter, Utley joined the Dodgers broadcast team as a studio analyst.

There is little question that Chase is considered the most admired Phillie of his era, and he has built a legacy that transcends his playing days. He credits his above average playing longevity to his unwavering focus on diet, health, and fitness – something he remains committed to pursuing during his retirement. He’s been dairy free for years and claims it has done wonders to decrease joint pain and inflammation both in his playing and non-playing days.
