Marvin Jones

Marvin Jones is a veteran NFL wide receiver for the Detroit Lions.

Jones had a solid four years at the University of California before being taken in the fifth round by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Jones played with the Bengals for four seasons. As a rookie, he appeared in 11 games with five starts and totaled 18 receptions for 201 years and one touchdown. In 2016, Jones signed a big-time five-year deal with the Detroit Lions. He immediately became a fundamental piece in the offense, posting a 1,000-yard season in 2017. Following five strong seasons with the Lions, Jones brought his talents to Jacksonville.

Jones then returned to the Detroit Lions for a second stint. For Jones, it’s been a chance to reunite with the Lions after spending 2016-2020 with the franchise earlier in his career. Jones has served as a reliable receiver to any organization he has been a part of.

Away from the game, Jones is a strong family man as a father of five. On December 28, 2019, Marvin’s youngest son, Marlo, passed away.

“Marlo, the joy that you brought to us every day, with that smile, and that energy was like heaven on earth. You will always be in our hearts. We will always remember you. We did not get the chance to hear your first words (It would’ve been in Spanish too). We didn’t get to see you run with your brothers and sister; you ran with them with your eyes every day.”

Jones shares that his whole perspective on the situation and on life changed when he saw overwhelming support from friends, family members and teammates who showed up to his door.

Jones has proven to be community-oriented through numerous service efforts. He founded the Marvin Jones Charitable Foundation to support and motivate youth towards success and brighter futures.

He is also a talented singer and has produced his own music. Additionally, Marvin and his wife own their own location within the chain of Nothing Bundt Cakes.
