Umpire, Coach and the Media

After his playing career came to an end, David stood as a first-class umpire between 1985-1987. He then turned to radio commentary before becoming a coach, first, and with success, at Lancashire before being appointed coach of England (1996-1999).

On relinquishing the England coaching role, David returned to his media work, becoming an integral member of the Sky commentary team. As-well-as his media commitments “Bumble” has written four books published by Simon & Schuster.
