Jos Buttler is one of the brightest batting stars in glonal white-ball cricket.

 

Somerset  

In April 2009, Jos started his first-class career with Somerset. He had to wait until the following May before scoring his maiden first-class and County Championship century when making 144 against Hampshire.

 

Lancashire

In 2014, Jos moved north to his current county, Lancashire. To date Jos has made over 4000 first-class runs and taken over 180 catches.

 

The Hundred

Manchester Originals drafted Jos for the inaugral running of The Hundred in 2021. In the first two years of the competition Jos played for the frsnchise in seven matches.

In 2023, Jos led the Originals to the Final of The Hundred. On the road to the final, he hit 391 runs (AVG. 43.44) from 10 innings. Jos was comfortably the leading run scorer for the year. He passed 50 on three occasions, including a career highest score of 82. While the 2023 competition was a personal success for Jos, Finals Day was a disappointment for the Originals who lost by 14 runs to Oval Invincibles.

 

Indian Premier League (IPL)

In the high-octane IPL, Jos has played for the Mumbai Indians (2016, 2017) and the Rajasthan Royals (2018-2024).

 

Big Bash League (BBL)

Jos’ batting is equally sought after in Australia. In the explosive BBL, he has completed successful stints with the Melbourne Renegades (2013-14) and Sydney Thunder (2017-18, 2018-19).

 

England

Jos made his international debut for England in 2011. He holds the record for the fastest 100 scored for England in one-day cricket. Jos has scored over 3000 runs for England in ODIs, including 9 centuries.

In 2018, Jos reminded fans that his talents are not limited to white-ball cricket when the England selectors recalled him to the test team. Jos handsomely repaid their decision, by scoring a third Test maiden century vs. India at Trent Bridge.

He was England’s leading run getter in the series win vs. India. Mike Atherton stated that the inclusion of Jos was the key to England’s upturn in form during 2018.

In May 2019, Jos was selected for England’s World Cup squad. In the final against New Zealand, Jos, along with Ben Stokes, dragged England back into the game.

Together, they put on 110 invaluable runs for the 5th wicket. After the final was tied, Jos and Ben went out again and made 15 vital runs during England’s Super Over. With New Zealand needing 2 runs to win off the last ball of their Super Over, Jos ran out Martin Guptill giving England a memorable World Cup victory.
