Mason Crane
A leg break bowler, Mason Crane came through the Hampshire system to make his debut, as an 18-year-old, in July 2015.
Hampshire
Mason made his First-Class and County Championship debut against Durham in 2015. During the season, Mason played in three Championship matches. He became the youngest Hampshire player to take 5 wickets in a County Championship match when recording 5-35 in the 216 run win over Warwickshire.
Mason helped Hampshire lift the 2018 Royal London One-Day Cup. Mason’s season was then curtailed with a recurrence of a stress fracture.
In 2023, Mason made two County Championship appearances for Hampshire. While in the Metro Bank One Day Cup, Mason played on six ocassions, including the 2 run Final defest to Leciestershire. In total, Mason took 7 wickets during the competition and chipped in with 48 runs. His tally of runs was helped by a career highes List A score of 31 made against Nottinghamshire. He also completed six Vitality Blast matches, taking 6 wickets in the 20 over per side format.
Sussex
Due to injurires, Sussex signed Mason on a one month loan in April 2022. Playing in two County Championship matches, Mason took 5 wickets for Sussex with best bowling figures of 2-28 against Durham.
Glamorgan
In 2024 Mason signed a one-year loan contract with Glamorgan. After impressive early season performances, Mason agreed a three-year deal with the Welsh county which ending his long association with Hampshire.
New South Wales
In the winter of 2016-2017, Mason travelled to Australia, to play Sydney grade cricket. His impressive bowling performances led to a call-up to New South Wales, becoming the state’s first overseas player for 32 years.
The Hundred
Between the launch of The Hundred (2021) and the completion of its 2023 edition Mason played 14 games for London Spirit. During his time with the Spirit, Mason took 18 wickets with best bowling figures of 4-24.
Mason then moved to Welsh Fire, as a Wildcard pick, for the 2024 Hundred.
SA20
Mason played in two SA20 matches for Sunrisers during the 2022-23 comptetion. He made his Sunrisers debut against Pretoria Capitals on 12 January 2022. His best bowling return was 1-21 in the gamr against Durban Super Giants.
England
At international level, Mason made his T20 debut in 2017. He was selected for the England Ashes tour of Australia in 2017-2018, playing in the 5th test at the SCG.
Mason then missed the 2018 tour of New Zealand, due to a stress fracture in his back.
