Reece Topley

Playing Role - Left Arm Fast Medium
County - England, Surrey, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Northern Superchargers, Durban Supergiants
Date of Birth - 21/02/1994

Reece Topley burst onto the scene in the summer of 2011, aged just 17, when he took 14=wickets – including two five-wicket hauls – in his three opening Championship matches for ESSEX. Under the tutelage of his father Don Topley – the former Essex and Surrey player who was also his schoolteacher – Reece juggled his exams and his cricket in a memorable debut season.
A year later he led the attack for ENGLAND UNDER-19’s at the World Cup in Australia, taking 19-wickets at nine-runs apiece. He did plenty to add to the excitement around his name in the summer of 2013, taking 80-wickets across all formats for Essex.
In 2015, he joined HAMPSHIRE, and also made his T20I debut for ENGLAND against Australia. A first World Cup appearance followed as he was a part of the England squad which reached the final of the tournament in India in 2016.
This International recognition preceded a challenging chapter for the fast bowler as a series of stress fractures put a significant strain on his career. He signed for SUSSEX at the end of 2018 and despite the injuries still enjoyed some memorable moments for the county, including taking 17-wickets in their 2019 T20 campaign.
It is testament to his resolve and resilience that he emerged from this difficult period an even better player, now representing SURREY and bowling with both good pace and high skill. This was on display for the world to see again in 2022 when he registered the best ODI figures for an Englishman with 6 for 34 against India at Lord’s.
Now firmly established again at the top of the white ball game, Reece is a popular pick in the franchise market. He currently plays for the ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE in the IPL, the DURBAN SUPERGIANTS in the SA20, and the NORTHERN SUPERGIANTS in The Hundred.
